Meet the Blogger
HI, I'M TIFFANY!
Hi, I’m Tiffany… unapologetically obsessed with books. This blog is my personal reading journal where I track the books I read, the ones I buy (maybe too often), and everything in between. Think of it as a bookish diary. If you love stories, shelves full of TBRs, and honest thoughts on all things bookish, you’re in the right place. Let’s be book friends!

Synopsis:

In a den of vipers, revenge is the deadliest venom.

They shattered my world; now I'll bring down theirs.
The problem? I have almost nothing to trace the puppet master.
My only lead: Ice Venom.
An elite college hockey team that rules the ice—and the shadows beyond it.
To infiltrate their secret society, I set my sights on their weakest link.

Kane Davenport.
The charismatic captain and the lone green flag in a nest of serpents.
But too late, I realize I've enticed the most venomous snake.
Kane's friendly faƧade hides a predator more dangerous than I imagined.
He quickly unveils the monster lurking beneath the surface.
A monster who lured me in only to trap me in a lethal game with no escape.

My Review

I think I may have read too many Rina Kent books recently. Either that, or this one just wasn’t her best work.

This book had all the elements that would normally make me completely obsessed with a dark romance. The plot itself wasn’t necessarily the problem, I think my biggest issue came down to the characters.

I also have to admit that I don’t really associate hockey with dark romance, and I think that affected my overall feelings about the book. (Thank you, Heated Rivalry, for completely ruining all other hockey books for me!) šŸ˜‚ I think this story could have worked just as well without the hockey elements. Those parts felt a little distracting and took away from the darker aspects of the plot that I was more interested in.

Beautiful Venom follows Dahlia, who is determined to infiltrate a secret society to uncover what happened to her foster sister. Along the way, she catches the attention of Kane, a broody and dangerous man who agrees to help her gain entry into the society, but only on his terms.

Honestly, I think my biggest struggle was that the main characters felt a little too young for me. I never really connected with either of them the way I wanted to, and I think that made it harder for me to become invested in their relationship.

That being said, I’m still planning on continuing the series. I think I just need to take a little break from Rina Kent’s books so I can come back to the next one with a fresh perspective. Sometimes you just need a little palate cleanser before diving back into an author’s books!
